A few things worth knowing.

No. The new local-first app is built around writing, recording, reviewing actions and searching on your Mac without signing in. Accounts will only be needed for optional connected services when those services are available.

The local workflow works offline with the required models installed. Some speech and AI capabilities need an initial, user-approved model download. Strict Local mode blocks in-app networking, including model downloads, so complete model setup before enabling it.

Yes. The local-first Mac installer is on the download page, with its version, requirements and known limitations. No account or subscription is needed. The signed Mac app can check for updates when you ask; downloading and installing are separate choices. You can also get future installers from the download page.

The local core is free: notes, capture, supported local AI, actions, People, search and note export. An optional paid Connect service is planned for sync, browser access and hosted recovery. It is not available to purchase, and no price is final.

In the local workflow, your notes, transcripts and actions are stored in the app’s workspace on your Mac, with no automatic cloud upload. This isn’t a promise of app-level encryption or a substitute for backups. Use workspace backup and restore, and keep a backup outside your Mac. Markdown export is also available for notes. Visiting this website is separate from using the offline desktop app.

Treat actions as suggestions. Transcription, speaker labels and extraction can be wrong. Review the source, owner and due date before accepting. FocusBae helps you follow through; it doesn’t send messages or complete work on your behalf.

FocusBae for Mac targets Apple Silicon and macOS 26 or later. Apple Foundation Models also needs Apple Intelligence enabled. Optional Parakeet is an English transcription path; Hindi and mixed speech remain experimental. Intel, Windows and mobile builds are not included. No bot is needed for the local workflow. You choose microphone, system audio or both and start capture yourself. Obtain the participants’ permission as appropriate before recording. You can also type notes without recording anything.

Not yet. The website is the place for product information, release details and help. Browser workspace access and multi-device sync are planned parts of Connect, not currently available features.

Not yet. We’re considering an open-source desktop release. The license, dependency review and publication preparation are still pending; there is no public source repository to link to yet.
